Northlands College Invests $15,000 to Provide No-Cost Dental Care for Students and Families

October 31, 2025

La Ronge, SK –  Northlands College is pleased to announce a new partnership with the University of Saskatchewan’s Dental Therapy Clinic to deliver 150 no-cost dental care services to Northlands College students and their immediate family members. This initiative reflects a $15,000 investment in the health and well-being of our college community.

Outlined in a formal Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), this collaboration aims to reduce barriers to oral health care across northern Saskatchewan. Services will be available from November 1, 2025, to June 30, 2026, or until funding is fully utilized.

Dental services will be provided at the USask Dental Therapy Clinic in the Northlands College Canoe Campus (La Ronge, SK), with a satellite clinic operating in the west side to support students in Buffalo Narrows and La Loche. Creighton students will receive information on how to access dental care services in their area. All regions served by Northlands College will have opportunities for oral care.

“Access to oral health care is essential for strong, healthy communities,” said Dr. Gerry Uswak, Director, USask Bachelor of Science in Dental Therapy Program. “This initiative will improve the oral health of northern students while providing our dental therapy students with meaningful, hands-on experience in community-based care. It’s a win-win for education and public health.”

This initiative is made possible through the support of the Saskatchewan Health Authority, provincial and federal dental care plan funders, and local community partners.
