Northlands College Welcomes Multi-Year Post-Secondary Funding Agreement

November 4, 2025

Air Ronge, SK – Northlands College is pleased to acknowledge the Government of Saskatchewan’s announcement of a new multi-year post-secondary funding agreement, announced November 3 by the Ministry of Advanced Education. The agreement provides approximately $250 million in additional operating funding to institutions across the province over the next four years.

“This investment provides much-needed stability and certainty for post-secondary institutions,” said Michael McCormick, President and CEO of Northlands College. “Northlands College is proud to support and be part of the Ministry of Advanced Education’s multi-year funding agreement. This investment provides the stability and predictability needed to plan both short-term and long-term program delivery in Northern communities, helping us continue to meet the unique educational needs of our students and region.”

The funding agreement delivers annual operating increases of three per cent on top of the permanent one per cent increase in 2025-26. It also supports students by limiting tuition increases to a range of zero to three per cent annually and streamlines accountability reporting for post-secondary institutions.

“Stable multi-year funding allows Northern institutions like ours to plan strategically, expand programming where it is needed most, and ensure that students in remote and northern communities have access to high-quality education and training,” added McCormick.

The agreement aligns with Northlands College’s mission to provide responsive programming tailored to the economic, social, and cultural needs of Northern Saskatchewan, while supporting long-term regional development.
