Northlands College is excited to be inviting applications for the position of Manager, Facilities.
Northlands College is unique in that it crosses multiple boundaries unlike most other organizations, as we operate in communities whose populations are mostly comprised of people who identify as Métis, Dene or Cree. We are the only educational institution offering postsecondary education that has its administrative offices located in Northern Saskatchewan which helps to create employment and, in turn, aids the economy of this region.

The Manager, Facilities is a critical position within Northlands College and requires strong technical and communication skills. This individual’s background will be supported by the following:
- A two-year diploma or journeyperson ticket in a related discipline, supplemented by five years experience in building project management, general contracting, budgeting and costing, and general building maintenance of large institutional facilities.
- A suitable combination of post-secondary education and relevant experience will be considered for this position. WHMIS certification, Levels 1 and 2 Occupational Health and Safety Training and a valid driver’s license are required.
- The incumbent should have extensive knowledge of and demonstrated experience with building structures and systems, including mechanical, HVAC, and electrical systems.
- Knowledge of and demonstrated experience with applicable building codes, standards, and legislation as it pertains to public facilities and the workplace.
- Knowledge of and demonstrated experience in related project management, general contracting, and general building maintenance of institutional buildings.
- Knowledge of and experience with cost analysis, tendering, and budgeting

The Manager, Facilities is accountable for planning, organizing, staffing, and managing the College’s Facilities department. Some key responsibilities will include:
- In consultation with Directors, develop specific plans for major capital projects and improvements as required, identifying resource requirements and budgetary considerations.
- Develop an annual operating plan which sets out specific objectives and targets to be achieved in areas of responsibility to ensure effective and efficient facility operations.
- Maintain, update and review a schedule of minor improvements and repairs for each college-owned facility.
- Ensure minor improvement projects are undertaken as prioritized, and as budget becomes available.
- Coordinate and oversee construction plans and personnel hired for projects in college-owned facilities.
