Northlands College Unveils Ambitious 2023-2028 Strategic Plan: Paving the Way to Excellence

[La Ronge, September 26, 2023] – Northlands College is thrilled to announce the launch of its 2023-2028 Strategic Plan, charting an inspiring course to become the “college of choice for northerners.” This pivotal moment in the college’s history marks a thrilling turning point, marked by program expansions, cutting-edge technological enhancements, enhanced learner support services, a meteoric surge in enrollment, and the unveiling of a bold five-year strategic roadmap.

Karsten Henriksen, President & CEO of Northlands College, emphasized, “Our strategic plan is the result of extensive engagement with northern communities, industry leaders, dedicated faculty, and staff throughout the vast expanse of northern Saskatchewan. It not only shapes the college’s strategic trajectory but also serves as a guiding light for Northern Saskatchewan.”

The college’s new strategic plan introduces a new vision to “develop learners to live, work, and lead in northern Saskatchewan and a new Mission Statement with focuses on “nurturing northern learners to thrive in their communities and to participate in the northern economy by offering practical, innovative education that embraces cultural identity and meets workforce needs.”

In addition to this vision and mission, Northlands College has wholeheartedly embraced five core values: Accountability, Integrity, Culture, Sustainability, and Putting People First. These values are more than just words; they are action-oriented principles that will guide every facet of college life, from academics to operations.

Nick Daigneault, Chair of the Northlands College Board of Governors, proudly announced, “For the first time in our history, Northlands College has actively engaged with our Elders in the development of our institutional strategic plan.” Daigneault emphasized the board’s overwhelming satisfaction with the college’s four new pillars: Transformational Learning, Learners First, Our People and the North. These pillars are the cornerstones upon which the college’s grand vision will be built, ensuring a bright future for Northlands College and the communities it serves.

The release of the 2023-2028 Strategic Plan is a momentous occasion, and Northlands College invites all stakeholders, both near and far, to join them on this exciting journey towards excellence in education, cultural enrichment, and sustainable growth.

To be deemed qualified, an applicant must meet the minimum entrance requirements and complete the application procedures which includes providing all required documents.

  3. You will receive notification of any outstanding and/or additionally required documentation (eg.criminal record checks, abstracts, references, etc.). 

  4. If accepted, you must confirm your seat and secure funding to maintain your seat in the program.
