Northlands College Appoints Michael McCormick as President & CEO

The Board of Governors of Northlands College is pleased to announce the appointment of Michael McCormick as President and Chief Executive Officer for a one-year term, effective June 1, 2025.

McCormick has been serving as Interim President and CEO since October 2024. Prior to that, he held the position of Vice President of Finance, Administration, and Sustainability, bringing strong fiscal oversight and strategic insight to the institution since joining in November 2023.

With a deep commitment to operational excellence, sustainable development, and inclusive leadership, Michael brings to this role a wealth of experience and a personal connection to northern Saskatchewan. His thoughtful approach and collaborative leadership style have made him a respected figure both within the College and across the communities it serves.

“We’re fortunate to have Michael guiding Northlands College through a period of significant transformation, not only within our region but on a broader national and global scale,” said Nick Daigneault, Chair of the Board of Governors. “His extensive background in sustainable operations, human rights, and public service brings invaluable perspective and strength to our leadership team. Reflecting on his appointment, McCormick shared:

I am committed to advancing the College’s role in addressing the educational challenges facing our communities.”

Throughout his one-year term, McCormick will work closely with the Board of Governors and College leadership to advance strategic initiatives, supporting students, and ensuring the institution remains a vital force in the North.
