Northlands College is pleased to announce its financial investment and support for the Dziret’ái Pilot Training Program. This program is a fully funded initiative in northern Saskatchewan that supports Indigenous candidates, particularly from the Athabasca Basin, in becoming professional pilots. It focuses on skills upgrading, pilot training, and guaranteed jobs as First Officers with Rise Air upon graduation.

Northern Saskatchewan’s vast and often remote geography means that many communities rely heavily on air transport for year-round access. Improved connectivity ensures that residents can travel for essential services, education, and employment opportunities.  The mining and energy sectors are vital to Saskatchewan’s economy. Efficient air transportation supports these industries by facilitating the movement of workers and goods, thereby contributing to economic growth in the region.

Northlands College is committed to advancing the process of reconciliation by supporting initiatives that align with the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada’s Calls to Action. This program addresses several key areas, including education and employment opportunities for Indigenous peoples, fostering inclusivity, and empowering Indigenous communities.

Northlands College Board of Governors Chairperson stated…” We are honored to support the Dziret’ái Pilot Training Program. This initiative is a testament to our commitment to reconciliation and our dedication to creating meaningful opportunities for Indigenous communities. By investing in this program, we are helping to build a brighter future for the North and fostering a more inclusive and equitable society..”

Northlands College President & CEO stated….”At Northlands College, we are immensely proud to support the Dziret’ái Pilot Training Program. This initiative represents a transformative step in empowering Indigenous communities, fostering meaningful collaborations, and nurturing the next generation of leaders in the aviation industry. By opening doors to creative opportunities and championing inclusivity, we are paving the way for a brighter, more equitable future for the North.”
