Northlands College Hosts First Combined Graduation Ceremony, Celebrating the Achievements of Graduates

[Air Ronge, SK – June 7, 2024] – Northlands College achieved a remarkable milestone today by hosting its inaugural combined graduation ceremony, honoring the achievements of 81 graduates from the departments of Flexible Learning, Health and Wellness, Technology and Trades, and University. The event, held in Air Ronge, SK, marked a significant moment for the institution and the community it serves.

The ceremony was graced by dignitaries from Academia, First Nations, and the Government. Among the notable attendees were the Honourable Colleen Young, Minister of Advanced Education, and Alana Ross, MLA for Prince Albert Northcote, underscoring the importance of this momentous occasion.

Karsten Henriksen, President and CEO of Northlands College, delivered an inspiring speech highlighting the significance of this new tradition in the college’s history. He stated, “This combined graduation ceremony marks the start of a new tradition at Northlands College, symbolizing our commitment to honor and celebrate the achievements of our graduates in a unified and inclusive manner. We are immensely proud of each of our graduates; their accomplishments signify new beginnings and promising futures for the North. The horizon is bright with their potential and the opportunities they will create.”

Henriksen also celebrated the success of the college’s first batch of Dental Therapists, stating, “This graduation also makes us proud of our first batch of Dental Therapists, who will become an integral part of Saskatchewan’s economy. Their success opens doors to the program’s potential for all future applicants, setting a new benchmark for excellence.”

He further emphasized Northlands College’s dedication to its mission, adding, “As we continue to serve the residents of northern Saskatchewan on Treaties 5, 6, 8, and 10 territories, and the homeland of the Métis peoples, we promise to enhance and expand opportunities for Northerners. Our goal is to align our programs with the evolving needs of today’s industries, fostering a more empowered and prosperous North.”

The event also included Honor Songs from the Men of the North and prayers from the elders for the graduates. The ceremony and celebration of the graduates’ hard work and perseverance, sets a precedent for future ceremonies that will continue to reflect Northlands College’s commitment to education and community development.

First Qualified, First Accepted (FQFA)

To be deemed qualified, an applicant must meet the minimum entrance requirements and complete the application procedures which includes providing all required documents.

      • • If currently enrolled in high school, you must submit a Statement of Grades form.
