Continuing Care Assistant

This one-year Continuing Care Assistant Certificate program combines hands-on classroom learning with practical clinical experience to prepare learners for work in a variety of health care environments.

Graduates may fin employment in long-term care, home care, assisted living, acute care, or special needs classrooms assisting clients with mobility, personal care, eating, and medication monitoring.

Applicants must be proficient in the English language and should have personal and physical suitability for work in the health care industry.

Learners will participate in three clinical work placements. Whenever possible, learners are placed with local agencies; however, travel and overnight stays may be required depending on availability of employers.

Entrance requirements:
Grade 12, GED or successful completion of fifteen (15) post-secondary credits from a recognized institution

Accepted applicants will be required to provide:
Current Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC)*
Proof of updated vaccinations
*Learners must meet the minimum VSC criteria set out by the practicum agency.
