Bachelor of Social Work

Graduates of the Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) program may find careers in family counselling, mental health and addictions, child welfare, healthcare, criminal justice, community development, activism, and advocacy. According to the Government of Saskatchewan, employment in social assistance occupations is expected to increase over the next several years, and services for children and youth, addiction treatment and prevention are in high demand.

Full- and part-time studies available.

Applicants must be proficient in the English language.

Pre-Social Work (Year 1)
Students must complete 30 credit units of required and elective courses with a minimum average of 70%.

Bachelor of Social Work (Years 2 – 4)
Upon completion of the Pre-Social Work program, students will be eligible to apply to the Faculty of Social Work. Admission to the Faculty is competitive across the province; seats are limited.

Students must complete two practicums in year 3 & 4. Whenever possible, students are placed within their home community, but travel may be required.

*Criminal Record or Vulnerable Sector Checks may be required for practicum placements.

Grade 12 diploma with:

  • One approved math or science
  • One approved 30-level language, social science, or fine art
  • One additional approved 30-level course
  • Overall average of 70% in core subjects
